Spring Greetings
from Colorado…
It’s
a gorgeous spring day here …. Everything is blooming Everything is
green. Our somewhat arid geography
has been blessed with a lot of moisture in the last few weeks. I’m grateful for the view from my
window. Mountains in the west with
blue skies; white, red and pink blossoming trees; and a green grass sprinkled with yellow
dandelions. I am anxious to connect with the joys and blessings of
nature. Are you?
This “spring
joy” is in spite of my inability as a HSP Priestly Advisor to change
the course of the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. J See, “Is Everything Okay?”
in my first ezine. See Archive.
I’m
writing to let you know details of The 4th Annual West Coast HSP
Gathering. Information is now up on the web site www.lifeworkshelp.com
[For
full Gathering details click here.]
Our Rights to
Personal Power
The
road to claiming one’s own personal power can be a daunting one to
say the least. Many of us were
raised to be seen and not heard … and unfortunately, many of us have
remained invisible to those around us well into our adult years. This is especially true when in conflict
situations. A familiar pattern with
HSPs when in conflict is to either deny the conflict or give in to
it’s demands, thus reinforcing our sometimes powerless
reactions.
Somewhere
along the way we learn to choose between “Reacting” and
“Acting.” Yet this
choice takes knowledge, time, practice and support. The “Rights” I am sharing
with you will hopefully give you the courage needed to begin moving toward
your own personal power. [Click here for
“Rights.”]
Defining Personal Power
To understand
our rights in interpersonal situations, I think it is important to define
personal power. For purposes of this
article, I am borrowing these definitions from Harriet Lerner and Steven
Bavolek. [Click here.]
